Situated in Cambridge, ON, The Yard Athletic Centre is 22,000 square feet of baseball heaven. The facility features indoor turf, classrooms, a full-sized weight room, and a newly added outdoor training space.

Facility manager Kevin Phillip and the ownership group have transformed a former kitchen tile showroom and storage warehouse into a world-class baseball training environment in the heart of the Tri-City community.

Built to serve players at every stage of development, The Yard is home to the amateur elite Midwestern Ontario Bearcats baseball program, the off-season home of the CBL Kitchener Panthers professional team, and countless house league baseball and softball players just getting started through camps and clinics run by The Yard’s coaching staff.

Before Swift: Managing a Growing Baseball Facility with Spreadsheets and Multiple Tools

Before adopting Swift, managing the facility meant juggling multiple tools.

Scheduling lived in spreadsheets. Bookings and payments were handled across multiple platforms, and their marketing was outsourced to a third party. Nothing truly lived in one place.

“We had a lot of things that we were doing to help manage our schedule and bookings,” Kevin explained.

As demand increased, the cracks became more obvious. Kevin’s staff spent more time coordinating calendars than coaching. Customers had no simple way to view availability, book space, and pay online.

After Swift: Increased Bookings, Outdoor Rentals, and Membership Growth

Six months after switching to Swift, The Yard is reaching athletes in more ways than before.

Bookings are increasing, including new customers discovering the facility online and reserving time without staff involvement. Parents are booking turf time to train with their kids, filling gaps in the calendar outside of larger team bookings.

Swift is also enabling The Yard to launch its new outdoor training space. In Ontario, baseball diamonds are often unavailable until May, making early-season outdoor access limited. The new outdoor space gives teams and athletes more flexibility on warmer spring days and throughout the summer.

Kevin shared that having an outdoor space “is gonna be big for us”, especially as they plan to offer wiffle ball programs and house league clinics to keep the facility active and maximize profitability during traditionally slower summer months.

The Yard is also beginning to offer memberships for the first time with Swift’s help. Bearcats alumni and athletes in the community can now access the facility consistently, creating predictable usage and recurring revenue that did not exist before.
