About Bat Flip Baseball: A Player Development Training Facility in Columbus, Ohio

Chris Anderson is the co-owner of Bat Flip Baseball, a player development focused baseball and softball training facility in Columbus, Ohio. Like many sports facility owners, Chris balances multiple roles. In addition to coaching and managing the facility, he also works a full-time job outside of baseball and prioritizes time with his family.

Bat Flip Baseball operates out of a 10,000 square foot facility featuring four HitTrax batting cages, three full-length multi-use cages, and a spacious weight room. The space supports team rentals, private lessons, camps, classes, and memberships.

Accessibility is a core part of the Bat Flip Baseball experience. As Chris explains, “no experience needed at all,” with athletes ranging from young kids hitting off a tee to professional players training at high velocities. From the layout of the space to the technology in the cages, the facility was intentionally designed to feel inviting without sacrificing data-driven training tools.

“We wanted to create something that was really welcoming for anybody who could come in here, whether you’re in here for serious training or just to have a little bit of fun.”

Before Swift: The Limitations of Acuity Scheduling for a Growing Baseball Facility

Before switching to Swift, Bat Flip Baseball relied on Acuity scheduling through Squarespace, which led to challenges with disjointed booking and billing platforms.

Chris had to spend extra time reconciling data and pulling reports just to understand how the business was performing. “It kind of created some headaches with data and reporting,” he explained. When trying to analyze growth and make informed decisions, the extra admin work quickly added up. “That was a big admin challenge,” Chris admitted.

As programming expanded, the limitations of the system became more apparent. The setup did not provide the flexibility needed to manage rentals, lessons, and future offerings in one cohesive workflow.

For someone already juggling a full-time job, coaching, and family life, the admin burden added unnecessary stress.

“The features [with Acuity] were a bit limited and didn’t really allow us to scale our business how we wanted.”

Choosing the Right Facility Management Software

The turning point came when Bat Flip Baseball moved into a brand new, larger facility.

With more cages, more space, and the opportunity to expand programming, Chris knew their software needed to evolve as well. “We needed a scheduling system that would allow us to grow and grow with us,” he said.

After evaluating different options, Swift stood out for one key reason. It struck the right balance between a clean, simple customer experience and strong admin tools on the backend.

The onboarding process allowed Chris to set up Swift in a way that matched how the facility actually operates. Instead of forcing the business into rigid workflows, Swift adapted to their services, memberships, and long-term plans.

“Swift gave us the best balance of customer experience and admin functionality.”

After Swift: More Organization, Less Admin, and Room to Grow

With Swift in place, the business feels more structured and easier to manage. Chris and his team can organize classes, plan future HitTrax leagues, and operate confidently within their expanded space.

Customers noticed the difference right away. Moving from multiple tools to one streamlined booking experience made things simpler for families, athletes, and staff alike. Chris described the transition as “pretty seamless,” something many facility owners hope for but rarely expect when changing software.

Most importantly, Swift removed a major source of mental load. With less time spent on admin work, Chris can focus on what matters most: developing players, growing the facility, and being present with his family outside of work.

“Everything just feels more organized now, and that makes a huge difference as a facility owner. If you’re looking to grow your business and organize all the different aspects of your facility, Swift is the perfect fit.”
